Christian Louboutin - then and now

Christian Louboutin was born in 1963 and grew up in Paris. Working first for Charles Jourdan and Roger Vivier, Christian Louboutin then set up on his own. He opened his flagship designer shoe store in Paris in 1992, and now has several around the world including the Mount Street Christian Louboutin store in London which opened in 2008.

To celebrate Barbie’s 50th birthday in 2009, Christian Louboutin is creating a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes in Barbie Pantone 219 Pink - these special Barbie shoes will premier at a special catwalk show at New York Fashion Week in February 2009.

In 2008 Christian Louboutin had the world’s fashion media in thrall with the announcement that in 2009 he would start selling high heels with a staggering (no pun intended) 8″ heel. This is apparently the first time such high heels will have been available from conventional shoe retailers rather than from fetish designers. The 8″ heeled shoes will have a platform at the front, and will have technical changes to ensure women can still walk in them.
