There’s a good article in The Observer today in which Ariel Levy meets Alber Elbaz, head designer at French fashion house Lanvin. Since Elbaz took over at Lanvin eight years ago, he’s raised revenues, and Lanvin-esque designs are now filtering into the high street. I liked the journalist’s comment that “There are many designers whose work can make women look thinner or prettier. Elbaz seems to have the power to make women appear more interesting.”

The “more interesting” of our celebrities and actresses seem to agree - Tilda Swinton wore an Alber Elbaz dress to last year’s Oscars, though I am not sure what the actress would make of Ariel Levy’s description of her as looking like an “extremely elegant bat” (and I love bats).
