It’s time to think coats - update your wardrobe as soon as you step outside the front door, with these two very different spring coats, from two very different online designer boutiques. One is a classic investment coat from luxury boutique Rous Iland, by designer Louise Amstrup. The other is a cute and ladylike Spring wardrobe update by Juicy Couture, available from Sarah Coggles.

This Louise Amstrup Showpiece Coat is the perfect example of investment dressing. It’s expensive at £1,900, but if you wear it for 20 years that’s only £95 a year (it pays to be good at mental arithmatic when you’re justifying a budget-busting yet still essential designer purchase).

In black wool with a leather panelled oversize collar, it fastens with one button. The beautiful folds of the coat move as you walk, displaying the luxurious silver silk lining. There is more leather panelling along the bottom of the coat.
