Diane von Furstenberg (or DvF), first found designer fashion fame in the 1970s as the inventor of the iconic wrap dress. She launched the wrap dress back in 1972 (after apparently combining a wrap top and a skirt, two of her existing designs, into a dress) and she was soon selling thousands of Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses each week.

Usually made of silk jersey, DvF wrap dresses clung to the body and were sexy and elegant at the same time (and of course, very easy to get in and out of).

Diane von Furstenberg eventually sold her company in 1983, but re-launched her brand in 1997. A lot of the new designs were shorter and sexier, appealing to younger fashion-conscious wrap dress fans who no longer had to trawl vintage stores for vintage Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses.

Diane von Furstenberg also designed many other styles of dresses and other clothes.

There are now 26 Diane von Furstenberg boutiques open around the world, selling her designs (including, but not limited to, the famous Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses!).
